Conjunction

It was the third or fourth day after I started working again. For 2 weeks I was almost unable to move due to a lower back injury. Then, unfortunately, I injured myself again, this time on my right hand, my dominant hand. I got 4 inner and 7 outer stitches and was therefore unable to paint with my right hand. But I still had my left hand.

I started with the background on a square canvas. I didn't like much of it, neither the colours nor the shape. Frustration set in as I couldn't paint my usual characters. So I took a knife and cut the canvas to the shape I wanted. My lovely lpartner in crime and life, Dominique, helped me cut the wood for the construction and carefully screwed it together. Once the canvas was stretched again, I started painting with my left hand. It was the freest I had painted in a long time. I didn't waste a thought on where the light came from, nor where the shadow fell. It was all about the colors, shapes and to fill in paint between the white lines.

It is a conjunction of my thoughts and feelings that accompanied me during the time of my hand injury.
